So you went through the process of receiving a diagnosis...now what? As a parent with a child with an ASD diagnosis and BCBA, let me provide the very basics of a therapy service often paired with autism.
What is ABA?
Simply put, ABA stands for applied behavior analysis, the scientific approach to understanding a person's behavior. ABA can take place in multiple settings and should be a safe and enjoyable learning adventure.
Vision of ABA
ABA should help create meaningful, positive, and socially significant changes in behavior. It should focus on improving lives, promoting evidence-based practices, empowering communities, and fostering inclusion.
What we DON'T do
With our approach to ABA, we strive to work with the individual and their caregivers to help them reach their highest potential. We do NOT make "mini robots" or "cure/fix" the individual. We use an evidence-based approach that is a therapy, not babysitting.
